Police rescue newborn baby abandoned in carton along Abuja road

The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has rescued a newborn baby girl who was found abandoned inside a carton along a road in Galadima, Abuja.

The discovery marks the third case of an abandoned baby reported within the FCT in the past two weeks, raising concerns over the growing trend of child abandonment in the territory.

The command’s spokesperson, SP Joseph Adeh, expressed concern over the dangers faced by newborns and other children when they are abandoned in vulnerable conditions.

The police urged members of the public with information that could help identify the baby’s family or trace those responsible for the abandonment to come forward.

The command said such information would assist its investigation and help ensure that the circumstances surrounding the baby’s abandonment are established.
